Jean-Pierre Bienaimé has been Secretary General of the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA), representing the digital & telecommunications industry (operators, manufacturers, research and academic institutes, verticals, SMEs) in the Public-Private Partnership (5G PPP) with the European Commission, since September 2016.

Joining France Telecom (FT) in 1979, Bienaimé has had responsibilities including Advisor to the General Director of Moroccan Telecommunications in Rabat, Director of Marketing and Product Development for International Business Networks & Services at FT, Chief Executive Officer of Nexus International, and VP International Mobile Support for Orange Group. From 2009 until September 2016, Jean-Pierre has been Senior VP Wholesale Strategy, Communications and Community at Orange.

Jean-Pierre has been Chairman of mobile industry association The UMTS Forum from 2003 until 2016, with a mission to promote a common vision of the development of 3G UMTS and 4G LTE and evolutions, and to ensure their worldwide commercial success.

Jean-Pierre is graduated from ESSEC Business School – Paris, from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Postes & Télécommunications – Paris, and from INSEAD – Fontainebleau.

Wang Xinhui (wangxinhui @zte.com.cn) received Bachelor and Master degrees from Northeastern University of China. He joined ZTE working on software development and system design of wireless communication system in 2000. Since 2006, he has been focusing on advanced radio access technology research and standardization. His research interests include network densification, massive machine communications and high frequency communications. He has been elected Vice Chairman of 3GPP GERAN TSG for three consecutive terms since 2011. He is currently chairing Radio Access Technology Group of IMT-2020(5G) Promotion Group as vice chairman. He held over 60 granted patents globally.

Kohei Satoh joined the Electrical Communication Laboratories, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (NTT), Japan, in 1975, and transferred to NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo) in 1992. Since 1975, he has been engaged in the research on radio propagation for satellite communication systems, research and development of mobile satellite communications and mobile communications systems. After 1985, he has been also engaged in standardization activities of mobile satellite services in ITU-R and international alliance activities for IMT-2000. He has been a President and CEO of DoCoMo Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH in Munich, Germany, from November 2000 to May 2002.


In July 2002, he moved from NTT DoCoMo to Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB). He is now an Executive Manager on Standardization of ARIB, and his current job is to promote standardization activities for enhancement of IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced and for IMT-2020 and beyond. He has actively participated in ITU-R Working Party 5D (WP5D), Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), APT Wireless Group (AWG) and China, Japan and Korea (CJK) IT Standards meeting since he joined ARIB. He is currently Chairman of AWG and Secretary General of the 5th Generation Mobile Communications Promotion Forum (5GMF).

Dr. Chaehag Yi received the B.S., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He worked for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. as a VP where he performed the development and commercialization of cellular terminal modem chipsets. He is a Professor of Sungkyunkwan University. He currently works for the Ministry of Science and ICT as a Mobile Communication CP (creative planner).

His research interests include digital communication theory, mobile communication systems, wireless connectivity, joint RF and baseband optimization, software-defined radio processor, and cellular modem architecture design.

Luciano Leonel Mendes (male) received the BSc. and MSc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Inatel, Brazil in 2001 and 2003, respectively. In 2007 he received the Doctor degree in Electrical Engineering from Unicamp, Brazil. Since 2001 he is a professor at Inatel, where he has acted as the technical manager of the hardware development laboratory from 2006 to 2012. He has coordinated the Master Program at Inatel from 2010 to 2013 and he has led several research projects funded by FAPEMIG, FINEP and BNDES. From 2013 to 2015 he was a visiting researcher at the Technical University of Dresden in the Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems, where he has developed his post-doctoral program sponsored by CNPq under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Gerhard Fettweis. Since 2015, he has acted as the Research Coordinator of the Radiocommunication Reference Center at Inatel, which is a research project aiming at addressing the main challenges for the Brazilian society regarding wireless, satellite and terrestrial communications. His main area of interest is solutions for the physical layer of the future fifth generation of mobile communication systems (5G), a research field where he has published several papers in the last years. He is also a CNPq level 2 research fellow since 2016. In 2017 he was elected Research Coordinator of the 5G Brasil Project, an association involving industries, telecom operators and academia which aims for funding and build a ecosystem towards 5G, improving the discussions about the Brazilian needs for this network and how Brazil can contribute with the international standardization.

Dr. Emilio Calvanese Strinati obtained his Engineering Master degree in 2001 from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ and then he worked at Motorola Labs in Paris since 2002 and obtained his Ph.D in Engineering Science in 2005 from Telecom Paris Tech. Then, in 2006 he joint CEA/LETI. From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Calvanese Strinati co-chaired of the wireless working group in GreenTouch. From 2011 to 2016 he was the Smart Devices & Telecommunications European collaborative strategic programs Director at CEA and since December 2016 he is the Smart Devices, Telecommunications and Security Scientific and Innovation Director. In December 2013 he has been elected board member of the Net!Works 5G PPP ETP. Since 2016 he is the coordinator of the H2020 joint Europe and South Korea 5G CHAMPION project. E. Calvanese Strinati has published more than 100 papers in international conferences, journals and books chapters, given more than 50 international invited talks and keynotes and is the main inventor or co-inventor of more than 60 patents. He has organized more than 50 international conferences.
